When call volumes suddenly rise, keeping customers on the line can become a real challenge.

A few extra minutes in the queue can mean a customer simply hangs up and moves on.

So, what can supervisors do?

A few things can make a big difference:

  • Keep an eye on the queue in real time — know when wait times start increasing.
  • Track agent availability — make sure available agents are being utilized effectively.
  • Watch abandoned calls — identify when and where customers are dropping off.
  • Act early — adjust agent allocation or call flow before the queue gets overloaded.

The key is visibility. If supervisors can see what's happening in the queue as it happens, they can respond before a busy queue turns into lost customers.
